Broker insight: How to maximise Palm Beach International Boat Show 2025

With the hotly anticipated Palm Beach International Boat Show (March 21-24) taking place next week Heesen is delighted to have three yachts in display —Santosha, ELA, and Book Ends. The trio showcase Heesen’s expertise and quality in Aluminium construction. Considered one of the most significant shows in the calendar Heesen spoke to Rupert Connor, a seasoned superyacht broker and president of the Luxury Yacht Group, to hear his insights on what visitors can expect from the show.

About Rupert Connor

Rupert’s path into yachting happened by chance. While working as a teenager in the Caribbean he met a gentleman who encouraged him to pursue a career at sea. This in turn lead to him undertaking an Atlantic crossing on a 48-foot sailing vessel, sparking a lifelong passion for yachting.

After gaining valuable experience in various roles, including a position at Camper & Nicholson’s, Rupert founded the Luxury Yacht Group. Over the past 25 years, the firm has thrived through its crew-centric approach, ensuring that the right personalities and skills meet the needs of yacht owners. While crew placement may not be the most lucrative part of yacht brokerage, it remains vital for enhancing yacht management and overall experiences.

Rupert is currently building the second Solemates, Heesen 55m Steel FDHF at the shipyard, and his company will also feature the Mulder 36 at Palm Beach. This duo represents the core of his brokerage business, which focuses on catering to clients with yachting experience, an eye for quality and a practical approach to yacht ownership.

Here are Rupert’s top three tips for Palm Beach International Boat Show:

Quality vs. quantity

Palm Beach Boat Show has a unique charm, which is one of the reasons why its reputation is growing in among the superyacht community. The show stands out because of its welcoming atmosphere, which fosters intimate connections and meaningful conversations with highly qualified potential clients. Unlike larger shows such as Miami, or Fort Lauderdale, Palm Beach allows buyers to enjoy a relaxed stroll down the docks, taking in the luxurious vessels on display. Make sure you maximise the opportunities that come from this environment.”

Take time to tour

We like to ensure that all yacht tours are completely personalised to guests, ensuring that they have time to savour their time on board. We encourage visitors to relax on the sundeck, soak in the views, and truly experience the unique essence of the yacht. We think this immersive approach creates lasting memories and fosters a genuine connection, increasing the likelihood of a successful transaction. However, it’s of course also important to remember that yachts are private homes, and practising proper yacht etiquette enhances the experience for everyone.

Book a top table

When it comes to dining, you shouldn’t miss the iconic Breakers Hotel and the Flagler. Both have excellent food and are also as a hotspot for VIPs and celebrities. It’s a place where guests not only enjoy a delicious meal but also have the chance to see and be seen, making it a lively hub during the show.

Heesen looks forward to welcoming you to Palm Beach Boat Show. Please to get in touch to tour any of the Heesen yachts on display.
